About the Role
As an Assistant Project Worker within our Lanarkshire Education team, you will support children and young people in educational settings, helping them to access learning, develop positive behaviours, build independence, and achieve their individual goals. This rewarding role involves working closely with schools, colleges, families, and partner agencies to ensure children and young people receive the support they need to thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting children and young people within schools, colleges, and other educational settings to engage positively in learning and school life.
Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, social development, and independence in line with individual support plans.
Following and contributing to the review and development of each child's individual support plan, ensuring all support is outcome-focused and person-centred.
Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people, encouraging them to develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.
Working collaboratively with teachers, educational staff, parents/carers, and partner agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children and young people we support.
Supporting children and young people during classroom activities, transitions, break times, educational visits, and other aspects of the school day as required.
Recording and reporting relevant information accurately and professionally, including behavioural observations, achievements, incidents, and progress updates.
Attending team meetings, training sessions, reviews, and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
Contributing to a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes equality, participation, and wellbeing.
Maintaining a sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, child protection legislation, and organisational policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and professionals.
The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
A relevant qualification such as SVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
A flexible, patient, and positive approach when supporting children with varying needs.
Experience of working with children and young people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or other additional needs would be advantageous, whether gained professionally or personally.
Hours: Full-time, Term-time only
